Mark Robinson


Mark Robinson is a former fee-based investment advisor with 25 years of experience offering investment advice and consulting services. Mark held professional designations as an investment management analyst and an investment fiduciary analyst. To avoid any perception of a conflict of interests, Mark dropped his securities licenses and professional designations in 2012 to apply his expertise exclusively to consumer empowerment/investor advocacy initiatives. 

•    2015: Creator and developer of The OverWatch System for CPAs™. 

•    2015: Creator of the My Money and Me video series offered through the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS). Launch date: April 2016. 

•    2015: Content developer, moderator and keynote speaker for Governor Snyder’s October 2015 statewide initiative, Securing MI Financial Future, and the Reinventing Mi Retirement initiative in October 2014. Contracted through DIFS. 

•    2014: Content developer and general session speaker at Governor Rick Snyder’s Reinventing MI Retirement initiative, October 2014. Contracted through DIFS. 

•    2014: Creator of Be a Money Smarty!™, an instructional program for employers and membership organizations. Nominated by General Motors Corporation for a 2015 Eddy Award sponsored by Pensions & Investments. 

•    2013: Creator of the Federal Reserve Bank's Michigan Money Smart Week® Be a Money Smarty “Lightning Round” presentation, regarded as a national best practices model by the Federal Reserve Bank, Chicago. 

•    2013: Developer and host of the made-for-television program Be a Money Smarty broadcast which aired on Detroit Public Television and other PBS stations in July 2013. 

•    2012: Creator of the My Money and Me™ educational series developed in collaboration with Michigan State University Extension. My Money & Me webinars have been presented in over 25 states through the Cooperative Extension System of land grant universities, and was approved by the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE®) for continuing education credits for its membership. 

•    2006-2013: Creator of the Investing Fundamentals series of educational programs as part of the nationwide Investor Education in Your Community® initiative sponsored by state securities regulators and funded by the Investor Protection Trust (IPT) Washington, DC. Since 2007, educational content developed by Mr. Robinson has been presented to nearly 100,000 Michigan residents. 

•    2010: Developer of educational, investor-advocacy content for the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities in association with the AARP Foundation. 

•    1993: Lead contributing writer for a widely-circulated reference publication titled “Career Directory Guide for Business and Finance” 1993 edition published by Gale Research International, Ltd., a Thompson Gale Publication U.S. ISBN 0-8103-5604-X.
