Louis J. Melone, CFP


 As a board CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional, Lou works to provide comprehensive financial strategies for higher net worth families to help them maintain a lifestyle of independence and dignity throughout retirement, as well as, focuses on qualified plans for small business owners. Lou holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Michigan University and studied at the American College for his CFP® certification. Lou was a past President for the Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the Michigan Association of CPA’s Personal Financial Planning Task Force, and Financial Planning Association. In addition, Lou is a monthly columnist for DBusiness Magazines DBusiness.com: Detroit’s Premier Business Journal.

Beginning in 2010 and for a Fourth Year in a row, Lou was named in the June and July/August issues by Hour Detroit Magazine and Dbusiness Magazine as “Five Star Wealth Manager” in South East Michigan.  This designation is given to the top 7% of wealth Managers in the region. Lou has been a featured speaker at the Michigan Association of CPA’s Management Information & Business Shows and CPE Mega Conferences for the past eight (8) years. In addition, he has provided webinars for MACPA members across the country.  The topics have ranged from Behavioral Finance, Comprehensive Financial Planning Process, and types of Qualified Plans for Small Business Owners. Lou has also provided financial planning/behavioral finance seminars to executive retiree groups of Ford Motor, as well as, numerous other small to mid size companies.

Lou began his career with Dean Witter which evolved into Morgan Stanley.  He then moved his practice to Smith Barney before forming Budd, Melone & Co., LLC with Co-Founder Joe Budd.  Joe and Lou have worked together for the duration of their eighteen (18) year careers in the financial services industry with offices in Michigan and Tennessee.
