Evan H. Kaploe, Esq.

After his graduation from Northwestern University, Mr. Kaploe traveled to Kansas City, Missouri to begin his career as a tax attorney for a large national law firm in their tax department. In an effort to hone his litigation skills, he subsequently took a position with the Department of Treasury, Internal Revenue Service, Office of Chief Counsel, in Detroit, Michigan. With the IRS, Mr. Kaploe became an insider. He learned the practice and procedure for a myriad of tax claims while prosecuting for the Federal government. More importantly, Mr. Kaploe networked and gained valuable relationships within the IRS that exist today. He has a great working relationship with Revenue Agents, Revenue Officers, Appeals Officers, Settlement Officers, and attorneys all within the IRS.

After a number of years, Mr. Kaploe decided to take his relationships and knowledge into private practice and help taxpayers fight against the IRS in all matters. This time, Mr. Kaploe went to a large, Michigan-based law firm. His success with clients led to Mr. Kaploe’s decision to open Evan H. Kaploe PLLC in the winter 2013. He is licensed in three states, the U.S. Tax Court, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He also serves the legal community as the Chair of the Practice and Procedure Committee, Tax Section, State Bar of Michigan and as Vice Chair, Tax Section, Oakland County Bar Association. Mr. Kaploe was elected to the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Inn of Courts in 2012. In 2014, he was named a Super Lawyer Rising Star©.
