Kathryn Horton is an industry leader in the use of data analytics for audit processes and fraud detection, specifically using Caseware IDEA. Kathryn was the recipient of the 2017 U.S. IDEA User of Excellence Award. She was a featured speaker at the 2018 National IDEA User Conference and has presented on the use of data analytics for fraud detection to both regional and national audiences.
Her numerous years of public accounting experience encompass the industries of not-for-profit, manufacturing, aviation, distribution, retail, technology, professional services, alternative investment funds, finance companies, broker-dealers and employee benefit plans. Kathryn utilizes data analytics in engagements to streamline processes, identify fraudulent activity and compliance matters, analyze big data and identify data anomalies.
Kathryn was a 2019 FICPA Horizon Award Honoree, participant at the 2019 FICPA Emerging Leaders Summit in Tallahassee and featured in the most recent winter issue of Florida CPA Today Magazine. Kathryn was a 2019 40 Under 40 Honoree by CPA Practice Advisor and a featured speaker for the 2019 FICPA Accounting Show. Kathryn is the 2019 – 2020 Vice Chair of the FICPA Young CPA Committee. She is a graduate of the FICPA’s Emerging Leaders Program Class II and a graduate of Leadership Fort Lauderdale Class XXII. Kathryn was a Curriculum Committee Member for Leadership Fort Lauderdale Class XXIII, XXIV, XXV and XXVI, and a Regional Advisor for the FICPA Emerging Leaders Program Class III. She is an active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, Covenant House, HANDY and Gilda’s Club of South Florida. Kathryn is also active with the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, the Accountant/Attorney Networking Group of Florida and the Leadership Fort Lauderdale Alumni Group
James Sutton is a CPA and Attorney with an almost exclusive focus on Florida sales and use tax controversy. His firm, Moffa, Sutton, & Donnini, PA handles audits, protest, litigation, consulting, collections, revocations, and criminal defense all revolving around sales tax matters. A graduate of Stetson (Bachelors and Juris Doctorate), Mr. Sutton is heavily involved with the FICPA and speaks at conferences and local chapters throughout Florida. Brett received a BS with Degree in Accounting from FSU and his background includes two basic skill sets; valuation and forensic accounting, which have lead him to providing services in the consulting areas of valuation of business and business interest, intangible asset valuation, economic damage determination, forensic accounting, M&A advisory services, and ESOP related services.
Brett is Director of the Valuation & Advisory Practice Group of Rivero, Gordimer & Company, P.A. in Tampa, FL. He has been in the consulting arm of public accounting and with an investment banking firm for the past 20 years of his career. Prior to the consulting career, he practiced in the tax and audit functions of regional sized accounting firms and as the CFO of a manufacturing concern.
Over his career, Brett has worked with numerous industries present in the Southeastern U.S. with a heavy concentration in Healthcare, Technology & Life Sciences, Manufacturing & Distribution, Professional Services, Hospitality, and Energy.
